Scripture: Ephesians 5:8-18
What receives from God is our faith
What manifests what we have received is patience
But what holds what we have received is fullness of the Spirit
Fullness of the Spirit does not allow you to recline to the senses, it subdues the senses till what you have received is manifested by patience.
The fullness of the Spirit is not a one time experience, you have to keep being filled with the Holy Ghost (Acts2:4, 4:31)
Benefits of the fullness of the Spirit:
- You would have the light of God, proving what is acceptable to Him(Eph5:8-10)
Fullness of Holy Ghost is the manifestation of the light of God
Light shows you things the way they are
There are things that you carry on with which are detrimental to you but fullness of the Spirit will make it manifest. - You would have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness but rather reprove them (5:11)
- Fullness of the Spirit would cause you to act (5:14)
The sleeping and dead man are alike and are characterised by inactivity
fullness of the Spirit will give action to you, it will cause you to wake up from your sleep and arise from the dead - You would walk circumspectively (5:15)
To walk circumspectly means go straight to the point, move to the target immediately
Whatever takes your time will make you miss the target (redeeming the time)
The wise are those who are not distracted, the fools are those easily distracted
What is the will of God? The will of God is fullness of the Spirit
You are unwise if you don’t maintain the fullness of the Spirit
If you understand the will of the Lord, you will maintain the fullness of the Spirit
And maintaining the fullness of the Spirit enables you to redeem the time because the days are evil.
Whatever you are doing, whatever you have to do, your new assignment, your new goal, the next thing that has just come to you to do, your next project… you have to understand what the will of the Lord is
And that is maintaining the fullness of the Spirit
The reason why you should is because you have to move circumspectly in whatever you have to do.
The will of the Lord is fullness of the Spirit in every issue
Understanding what the will of the Lord is a continuous process…. it has to be maintained and kept alive
How do you maintain the fullness of the Spirit?
You maintain it by praying in the Holy Ghost
Just as you spoke when you were initially filled
Make it your aim to start everyday full of the Spirit by making a practice of praying in the Spirit.
